NFL DRAFT REPORTER AND WILL LEVIS FINDER
Published 4/29/2023
Stop the presses, folks! We have some breaking news that will surely shake the NFL to its core. Will Levis, the man who couldn't even beat out Sean Clifford for the starting quarterback job at Penn State, has been found - and the Tennessee Titans have taken him!
I mean, let's give credit where credit is due, Will Levis has some impressive skills. Like his ability to throw the ball... somewhat straight, and his talent for standing on the sidelines and holding a clipboard. Oh, and let's not forget about his knack for coming in during garbage time and throwing meaningless passes.
The Titans must have seen something in him that no one else did. Maybe they're looking for a new waterboy, or perhaps they need someone to hand out towels in the locker room. Who knows?
All in all, congratulations to Will Levis for being the luckiest guy on the planet. He couldn't even make a name for himself in college, yet somehow he managed to get drafted in the NFL. Maybe he'll surprise us all and become a Pro Bowl quarterback - or maybe he'll just continue to warm the bench. Only time will tell!
32. Hold onto your Terrible Towels, Steeler Nation, because the Pittsburgh Steelers have just made a move that has us all jumping for joy! They've only gone and picked up Joey Porter Jr. from Penn State in the second round, with an A- grade no less!
I mean, let's talk about a perfect fit, am I right? Porter Jr. has got all the skills to make it big in the NFL - speed, agility, and a hard-hitting mentality that's sure to make quarterbacks tremble in their cleats. And let's not forget about his legendary football lineage - with a name like Porter, it's practically destiny that he'll become a Steelers great.
With Porter Jr. on board, the Steelers' QB room just got a whole lot scarier for their opponents. He's sure to bring that edge and physicality that the team needs to dominate on defense. And who knows, maybe he'll even step up as a leader on the team - after all, he's got the blood of a champion running through his veins.
So, kudos to the Pittsburgh Steelers for making an A- grade move and picking up Joey Porter Jr. We can't wait to see what he brings to the table - or should we say, to the field!
33. Tennessee Titans picked up in the second round - none other than Will "Who?" Levis from Kentucky. I'm sorry, did I miss something? Is this guy actually a decent quarterback prospect? Oh, apparently the Titans think so, because they gave him an A grade for some reason.
I guess the Titans just couldn't wait to get their hands on a QB of the future, and Levis was the best they could find after scouring the bargain bin. And hey, at least they didn't have to give up much to move up and grab him, right? It's not like anyone else was chomping at the bit to draft this guy.
But let's not get too excited about this pick just yet. I mean, Levis has a lot of similarities to Ryan Tannehill, which is great and all, if you're looking for a mediocre quarterback who can occasionally string together a decent game. And let's be real, the Titans already have Tannehill, so what's the point of adding another one?
All in all, I guess this is a good get for the Titans if you're into mediocre QB prospects who may or may not pan out. But hey, at least we can all laugh about it together. C grade.
34. I'm sorry, but can someone explain to me what just happened with the Detroit Lions' second round pick? Sam LaPorta? Really? I mean, I guess he's a decent tight end prospect out of Iowa, but was he really the best player available at this point in the draft?
I have to admit, it's a little fascinating to see LaPorta go over guys like Mayer and Washington, but I'm not entirely convinced that this was the right move for the Lions. Sure, LaPorta has some decent athletic traits and can stretch the field a bit, but is that really enough to justify this pick?
I mean, don't get me wrong, I understand why the Lions might have gone in this direction, but I have to wonder if there were better players at the tight end position still on the board. It's not like LaPorta was a slam dunk pick or anything.
Overall, I'd have to give this pick a C+ grade. It's not terrible, but it's not exactly inspiring either. Let's hope LaPorta can prove me wrong and turn into a star for the Lions.
35. Wow, the Las Vegas Raiders really knocked it out of the park with this pick! Michael Mayer, the tight end out of Notre Dame, is an absolute steal at 35. This is a guy who may not have the flashiest athleticism, but his football IQ is off the charts. He knows how to create separation and get open, and he's a force to be reckoned with on defense as well.
I absolutely love this pick and give it a solid A grade. Mayer is exactly the kind of player the Raiders need to take their offense to the next level. He's going to be a key piece in making their offense even more efficient and dangerous.
Kudos to the Raiders for making a smart move and landing one of the best tight ends in this year's draft!
36. This is such an exciting pick for the Los Angeles Rams! They've really struggled with their offensive line lately, but they're addressing that issue head-on with the selection of Steve Avila, the guard out of TCU.
Avila is a total beast on the field, with incredible strength and a deep understanding of the game. He's exactly the kind of player the Rams need to solidify their offensive line and give their QB some much-needed protection.
I'm giving this pick an A- grade, because while Avila is a fantastic player, I do think there were some other options the Rams could have considered. But overall, this is a great pick that should pay off big time for the Rams in the years to come.
Congratulations to the Rams on a great selection, and here's to a bright future with Steve Avila on the team!
37. The Seattle Seahawks have selected the fierce Derick Hall, the EDGE player out of Auburn! This guy is an absolute beast on the field, with a long and violent style that's sure to strike fear into the hearts of opposing linemen.
Hall is all about running straight through his opponents, not around them, and that's exactly the kind of mentality the Seahawks need to improve their run defense. He'll be a great complement to Uchenna Nwosu, and I can't wait to see these two wreaking havoc on the field together.
Overall, I'm giving this pick a solid B+ grade. While Hall is an excellent player, there were some other options the Seahawks could have considered, so it's not quite an A+ in my book. But I'm still thrilled to see Hall joining the team, and I think he's going to make a huge impact in the years to come.
38. It's a bit confusing here. The Falcons took a tackle in Bergeron but plan to play him at left guard, despite the availability of a natural guard like O'Cyrus Torrence. It's an unusual move, but perhaps the Falcons saw something in Bergeron that they really liked. Overall, I'd give this pick a grade of C+.
39. Carolina Panthers: Jonathan Mingo, WR, Ole Miss
Grade: B
Carolina selects Jonathan Mingo, a big and fast receiver from Ole Miss. He may be a good fit for the team's RPO-based offense, but there are concerns about his ability to make plays after the catch. Overall, a solid pick, but nothing too exciting.
40. New Orleans Saints: Isaiah Foskey, EDGE, Notre Dame
Grade: A-
Who doesn't love a big, powerful EDGE player who can wreak havoc on the field? Foskey is an excellent addition to the Saints, and his long arm and relentless power will make him a real asset to the team. While he may not be a superstar, he is definitely a player to watch and could become a standout in the league. The Saints have made a great choice here, and their defense just got a whole lot better!
41. BJ Ojulari is an impressive player, and the Cardinals made a great pick here. His pass rushing skills are exceptional, with a rare combination of bend and burst that sets him apart from other players in this draft class. Although he still needs to improve against the run, his ability to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks is undeniable. With time and development, Ojulari has the potential to become a complete and dominant force on the field. Overall, this is a great pick by the Cardinals. Grade A-.
42. The Packers selected Luke Musgrave at 42, and I'm not quite sure what to make of it. Sure, they needed a tight end, but passing over Washington for Musgrave seems puzzling. Musgrave's blocking skills aren't as good, and he seems limited to just running vertical routes for now. Overall, it's a bit confusing to me. Grade D.
43. New York Jets: Joe Tipmann, C, Wisconsin
Grade: A-
Tipmann is a fantastic pick for the Jets. He's a powerful and intelligent player who will be a great addition to their offensive line. As the starting center, Tipmann will be a crucial piece in helping to protect Zach Wilson and open up running lanes.
44. Indianapolis Colts: Julius Brents, CB, Kansas State
Grade: A
Brents is an excellent pick for the Colts. He's a big, physical corner with great ball skills and the ability to match up with bigger receivers. With his versatility and willingness to tackle, he's a perfect fit for the Colts defense and should be a solid contributor for years to come.
45. Detroit Lions [TRADE]: Brian Branch, CB, Alabama
Grade: A+
The Lions hit a home run with this pick. Branch is a versatile and intelligent player who can play multiple positions in the secondary. He's a perfect fit for the Lions defense and should be a leader in their secondary for years to come.
46. New England Patriots: Keion White, EDGE, Georgia Tech
Grade: A-
White is an excellent fit for the Patriots defense. He's a powerful and explosive EDGE rusher who can also kick inside and disrupt the interior. With his ability to get after the quarterback and disrupt the run game, he'll be a valuable piece in the Patriots' defensive rotation.
47. Washington Commanders: Jartavius Martin, S, Illinois
Grade: B-
Well, Jartavius Martin definitely has a name that sounds like it belongs to a superhero. He may not have superpowers, but he's athletic and can play nickel corner for Washington. Solid pick, but we were hoping for a cape.
48. Tampa Bay Buccaneers [TRADE]: Cody Mauch, G, North Dakota State
Grade: B+
Cody Mauch sounds like the name of a character from a western movie. But he's actually a mauler of a guard who's always looking to finish blocks. Tampa Bay needed to fill the hole they made by trading Shaq Mason, and Mauch is just the guy to do it.
49. Pittsburgh Steelers: Keeanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
Grade: A-
Is Keeanu Benton related to Keanu Reeves? We may never know. But what we do know is that Benton is a large and powerful tackle with heavy hands. He'll be a contributor on all 3 downs, and maybe he'll even learn some martial arts from his supposed relative.
50. Green Bay Packers: Jayden Reed, WR, Michigan State
Grade: B
The Packers needed more juice in their receiver room, and Jayden Reed is going to provide it in bunches. He's a slot-only guy, but that's okay because we all know slot receivers are the secret superheroes of the football field.
51. Miami Dolphins: Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina
Grade: A-
Cam Smith is an exciting pick for the Dolphins. His athleticism and instincts make him a strong fit for their off-man scheme. With his ability to learn and play outside, he can bring a new level of playmaking to their secondary.
52. Seattle Seahawks: Zach Charbonnet, RB, UCLA
Grade: A-
Charbonnet is an absolute stud. His contact balance and leg drive make him a reliable and consistent back who can stay on the field for every down. Despite concerns about redundancy in Seattle's backfield, Charbonnet's skillset is too impressive to pass up.
53. Chicago Bears: Gervon Dexter, DT, Florida
Grade: A
Dexter is a versatile and talented defensive tackle who can control a single gap with his size and burst. His up-and-down career at Florida has shown his potential to be a gamechanger with development. The Bears are fortunate to add such a talented player to their defense.
54. Los Angeles Chargers: Tuli Tulipulotu, EDGE, USC
Grade: B+
Tulipulotu is a talented tweener who can make an impact on the edge. His impressive production in college shows his potential to be a valuable asset for the Chargers. While he may not have as much juice as other prospects, he has the potential to develop into a valuable contributor.
55. Kansas City Chiefs [TRADE]: Rashee Rice, WR, SMU
Grade: A+
The Chiefs made an excellent pick with Rice. His strong build and ability to win at the catch point and after the catch make him an ideal fit for their evolving offense. As the Chiefs focus more on efficiency, Rice's ability to get yards after the catch will make him a key contributor.
56. Chicago Bears: Tyrique Stevenson, CB, Miami
Grade: A
Stevenson is a physical and aggressive corner who excels at jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage. He is versatile enough to play inside or outside, but will likely fit in the Bears' Cover-2 heavy scheme as an outside corner. Overall, a great fit for the Bears' defense.
57. New York Giants: John Michael Schmitz, C, Minnesota
Grade: A
Schmitz is a tough and physical center who plays with a high motor and will fight until the whistle blows. He was the top center in the draft, and the Giants made a smart move by selecting him to strengthen their offensive line.
58. Dallas Cowboys: Luke Schoonmaker, TE, Michigan
Grade: C-
Schoonmaker's selection in the second round was a bit surprising, especially over Darnell Washington. It's unclear what the Cowboys were thinking with this pick, and it may not be the best use of their resources.
59. Buffalo Bills: O'Cyrus Torrence, OG, Florida
Grade: A
Torrence falling to the Bills in the second round was a steal. He is a powerful and dominant mauler who excels in the run game and will instantly improve Buffalo's offensive line. A great pick for the Bills.
60. Cincinnati Bengals: DJ Turner, CB, Michigan
Grade: B+
Turner is a versatile corner with the ability to play both inside and outside. He has the potential to become a star in the Bengals' secondary and is a smart pick for the future of their defense. Overall, a solid selection for the Bengals.
61. Jacksonville Jaguars: Brenton Strange, TE, Penn State
Grade: C-
While I understand the need to address the TE position, it feels like the Jaguars reached a bit for Strange. He may have been available later in the draft.
62. Houston Texans: Juice Scruggs, C, Penn State
Grade: C+
Scruggs has some technical flaws in his game, but he brings a wealth of experience to the table. He should be able to step in right away and contribute, especially in gap-based schemes.
63. Denver Broncos [TRADE]: Marvin Mims Jr., WR, Oklahoma
Grade: B-
Mims is an explosive playmaker with elite speed and a diverse route tree. He has the potential to open up the Broncos' offense and could provide a boost to the receiving corps. The pick might signal a potential trade or release of KJ Hamler.
64. Chicago Bears: Zacch Pickens, DT, South Carolina
Grade: B-
While Pickens has the athleticism to succeed as a pass-rushing three-technique, he's still developing and hasn't fully realized his potential yet.
65. Philadelphia Eagles: Tyler Steen, OG, Alabama
Grade: B-
Steen is a powerful player who has improved over the course of the draft process. While the Eagles didn't necessarily have a pressing need at guard or tackle, Steen has the potential to develop into a starter in the future.
66. Philadelphia Eagles: Sydney Brown, S, Illinois
Grade: C+
Luxury pick for Philly, questionable value. Brown is a speedy safety who can fill run lanes and cover flats, but coverage skills are limited.
67. Denver Broncos: Drew Sanders, LB, Arkansas
Grade: B+
Good range for Sanders, versatile LB who can rush the passer and fill runs laterally.
68. Detroit Lions: Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennesse
Grade: B+
Appropriate range for Hooker, smart QB with good arm but needs time to develop. Good backup option for Goff.
69. Houston Texans: Tank Dell, WR, Houston
Grade: B-
Nice fit for Dell in Houston's offense, quick and explosive slot receiver.
70. Las Vegas Raiders: Byron Young, DT, Alabama
Grade: B+
Solid run defender, limited pass rush upside, should contribute early.
71. New Orleans Saints: Kendre Miller, RB, TCU
Grade: B-
Solid runner, can rotate with Kamara, hit singles and doubles.
72. Arizona Cardinals: Garrett Williams, Syracuse
Grade: C+
Potential outside corner, but risk due to major knee injury.
73. New York Giants: Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee
Grade: A
Great pick for Giants, speedster who can stretch the field and force defenses to adjust.
74. Cleveland Browns: Cedric Tillman, WR, Tennessee
Grade: B
Solid receiver, tough blocker, should start on the outside. Could have addressed DL instead.
75. Atlanta Falcons: Zach Harrison, EDGE, Ohio State
Grade: B
Athletic EDGE player, power and fit with new defense.
76. New England Patriots: Marte Mapu, LB, Sacramento State
Grade: A+
Hybrid safety/LB with bad intentions, instincts in coverage. Great pick for Pats.
77. Byron Young, EDGE, Tennessee
Grade: A-
Powerful pass rusher, explosive and converts speed to power well. Good for boosting pass rush.
78. Green Bay Packers: They're doubling up on tight ends, but Kraft is a physical player who'll be a Krafty addition to the offense. Grade: C+
79. Indianapolis Colts: Josh Downs has a great ball-tracking ability and can create separation in short areas. He'll be the new quarterback's favorite target, and that's Down-s right exciting. Grade: A
80. Carolina Panthers [TRADE]: DJ Johnson is a great athlete who's still learning the ropes. It might be a reach, but he has all the tools to make it work. Grade: C-
81. Tennessee Titans: Ty'Jae Spears has great elusiveness and can make the first guy miss. He'll be a great complement to Derrick Henry and could eventually take over as a lead back. Grade: A-
82. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Yaya Diaby will be an EDGE player for Tampa, using his change of direction to knife inside and stun. Sounds like a Diab-olical plan. Grade: B
83. Denver Broncos: Riley Moss is an instinctive and productive player, but his change of direction to play corner is a concern. He'll be nice depth for Denver, though. Grade: C+
84. Miami Dolphins: Devon Achane has the speed to make every touch a house call. He'll be a great addition to the already fast Dolphins offense. Grade: B+
85. Los Angeles Chargers: Daiyan Henley is a fast player with a quick trigger downhill. He'll thrive at WILL for the Chargers. This pick is Henley-a good one. Grade: A
86. Baltimore Ravens: Trenton Simpson is a rangy backer who can run with backs and blitz, but he's still learning how to read gaps on the inside. It's a decent pick, but feels a bit redundant with Patrick Queen. Grade: C+
87. San Francisco 49ers [TRADE]: Ji’Ayir Brown, S, Penn State
Grade: B+
Wow, the 49ers really nailed it with this one! A player with a concerning 40 time who can be more of a range player? Sounds like a recipe for success.
88. Jacksonville Jaguars: Tank Bigsby, RB, Auburn
Grade: B-
Tank Bigsby runs angry? Good thing football is a contact sport then. But hey, at least he won't have to be the bellcow in Jacksonville, right?
89. Los Angeles Rams: Kobie Turner, DT, Wake Forest
Grade: A
Finally, someone the Rams can rely on outside of Aaron Donald. And who doesn't love a little "pass rush juice" from the inside?
90. Dallas Cowboys: DeMarvion Overshown, LB, Texas
Grade: B+
Overshown may be a "run and chase" player, but at least he's got some range and used to play safety. Maybe he can cover receivers instead of just chasing them down like a linebacker.
91. Buffalo Bills: Dorian Williams, LB, Tulane
Grade: B-
Williams may only be a "fine player," but at least he can run and provide "nice" special teams impact. Who needs great players when you can have fine ones with nice impacts?
92. Kansas City Chiefs [TRADE]: Wayna Morris, OT, Oklahoma
Grade: A-
Kansas City got themselves an experienced player on the right side who can pull, how exciting! Maybe he can even pull them out of their Super Bowl slump.
93. Pittsburgh Steelers: Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
Grade: A
The Steelers got a steal with Washington, as long as his medicals check out. And who doesn't love an "extra offensive linemen" who can potentially become an "uber-reliable and explosive target"? Just what every team needs.
94. Arizona Cardinals: Michael Wilson, WR, Stanford
Grade: B+
Wilson is a reliable receiver who can run crisp routes and create separation. He may not be a superstar, but he'll be a consistent contributor.
95. Cincinnati Bengals: Jordan Battle, S, Alabama
Grade: B
Battle is a smart safety with good instincts and experience, despite lacking elite athleticism. He'll add depth to the Bengals' safety group.
96. Detroit Lions [TRADE]: Brodric Martin, DT, Western Kentucky
Grade: B-
Martin fills a need at nose tackle for the Lions, but it's questionable if trading up for him was necessary. He has potential to contribute, but there may have been better options available.
97. Washington Commanders: Ricky Stromberg, C, Arkansas
Grade: B-
Stromberg is an experienced center who can fit in multiple schemes. He's not flashy, but he's a solid pick for Washington.
98. Cleveland Browns: Siaki Ika, DT, Baylor
Grade: A-
Ika is a massive run defender who can make an instant impact for the Browns' struggling run defense. This is a great value pick.
99. San Francisco 49ers: Jake Moody, K, Michigan
Grade: C-
The best kicker in the draft, but it's a bit early to take one on Day 2.
100. Las Vegas Raiders: Tre Tucker, WR, Cincinnati
Grade: C-
Tucker is a slot receiver with some speed and special teams ability, but it's surprising he was the first Bearcat receiver taken.
101. San Francisco 49ers: Cameron Latu, TE, Alabama
Grade: C+
Latu is a solid tight end with reliable skills, but he won't amaze anyone in any particular area.
102. Minnesota Vikings: Mekhi Blackmon, CB, USC
Grade: C+
Blackmon is a scrappy corner who needs to work on avoiding penalties. He could fit well in Brian Flores' scheme with the Vikings.
Ah yes, the second and third round of the NFL draft, where dreams are made and broken. But don't worry folks, we can all rest easy now that Will Levis has been found. I mean, who cares about the other picks, right? It's all about Levis, baby! Can't wait to see him lead the team to... wait, who did he get drafted to again?
I'm going to Kentucky! I'll be drafted #1 overall, you'll see.
